This 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe has deep roots in the New River Gorge region. The car was originally purchased new at Deligne Ford in Ansted, West Virginia, and was owned for many years by the postmaster in nearby Kincaid. Long before Interstate 64 and the West Virginia Turnpike were completed, Clarence “Shirley” Blake would often pass the car while traveling the winding roads between the Gorge and Charleston.
In 1968, Shirley had the opportunity to purchase the coupe and added it to what would become his beloved collection of classic automobiles. Today, this historic vehicle still travels the same mountain roads it has known for almost 80 years, offering guests a chance to experience a piece of local history while exploring the scenic beauty of the New River Gorge region.
